Money101: the year that was and the year to come

Fiona Williams

As we approach the end of 2024, a lot of us might start thinking about everything that’s happened to us over the past year. It’s also the time of year where, after we’ve recovered from Christmas food comas and survived that weird period before New Year’s where we don’t always know what day it is, we consider our goals and resolutions for 2025.

Here's a little insight into what we’ve achieved in 2024 at Money101, and our resolutions for 2025.

The year that was

In 2024, we celebrated 20 years of providing financial education. The best gift we got? We had one of our highest years of engagement on our Financial Wellbeing platform, as more users accessed online financial education through their employer. Tens of thousands of interactions were recorded, through module usage, survey questions, page views, articles, and videos.

A quick summary of what was popular:

  • Our modules saw fantastic engagement, with thousands of actions recorded. The top-performing modules included Budgeting tips, Spending and saving, and Saving for your goals.
  • Managing your money, Superannuation, and Debt were the most popular topics overall.
  • Hundreds of financial wellbeing surveys were filled out (these are 100% anonymous, so our lips are sealed on any more details).
  • Articles like 'How much super should you have?', 'Your financial wellbeing challenge – a 30-day action plan', and 'Creating a budget that works – a step-by-step guide' were widely read.
  • Videos such as 'Smoothing expenses – a key to financial wellbeing?', 'What makes a good investment?', and 'Loud budgeting for financial wellbeing' were crowd favourites.

As you can see, budgeting and superannuation were the fashion for 2024. What trends will 2025 bring?

On top of this, we have continued to provide other forms of financial education content to brands across Australia. We’re super proud of every person who has accessed our content, and we hope it provided the stepping stones needed to get a lot of financial journeys started.

The year to come

The financial world is constantly changing, from rules and legislation to changes in government, the economy, and everyday living. 2025 will be no different. But what remains the same is the need for quality financial education. In fact, we have seen this need grow.

Our 2025 resolution is to keep spreading the word about the benefits of financial wellbeing and financial education to as many Australians as we can.

HR teams are increasingly recognising financial wellbeing as a priority in the workplace, and we’re thrilled to see such strong uptake of our content in workplace programs. It’s heartening to know that more employers are stepping up to support their people in meaningful ways.

We’ve also got a little something new we’ve been working on to shake things up a little… so stay tuned!

So, as we bid farewell to 2024, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the progress we’ve made. Here’s to an even bigger and brighter 2025, filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive financially. Let’s make it the year of financial wellbeing for all Australians.
